Rubidium Healthcare – Nurse-led Home Care – South Manchester & Cheshire
This confusion felt especially stark because I’ve been a nurse for more than 23 years. I’ve worked in oncology, urgent care, palliative care, community services, and many roles in between. I’ve supported countless families, held hands with people who had no one, arranged care packages, and ensured safe discharges. But when it came to my own mum, all that experience didn’t stop me from feeling lost. And it made me wonder: If I felt that way, how must it feel for those without any medical background?
When Mum was discharged home, she received four visits a day so she could spend precious time with us. The carers were kind, compassionate, and dedicated. They made her smile, and some even came to her funeral. But I also saw the immense pressure they were under.
This was my first real, personal insight into what Home-based Healthcare in Cheshire and South Manchester often looks like. Carers were given barely enough time to wash and support someone who was bedbound, let alone offer meaningful, holistic care. They rushed between visits with almost no time to breathe. They were doing their very best, but without ongoing professional development, strong clinical oversight, and proper support, they were stretched far too thin.
I helped where I could — but that didn’t fix the system, and it didn’t help the other clients relying on them.
So I started asking myself: How could we make this better?
For clients, for families, and for carers? For clients receiving Home-based Healthcare in Cheshire and South Manchester, the care should always be centred around them. A 9am call should happen at 9am — not hours early or hours late. Visits should be a minimum of one hour to allow for dignity, proper care, and genuine human connection. Carers should be polite, compassionate, and committed to the wellbeing of each client. And they should be supported with real professional development, fair pay, protected breaks, and clinical guidance.
At its heart, care should be courteous, compassionate, and fully client-centred — the kind of care I wanted for my mum.
That vision is why Rubidium Healthcare Cheshire and South Manchester was created: to deliver outstanding, respectful, and reliable home-based healthcare while ensuring carers feel supported, valued, and empowered to provide the highest standard of care.
